Taipower Receives Fourth Consecutive Taiwan iSports Certification
October 31, 2023 - In addition to having six corporate sports teams and cultivating over 500 national athletes who compete both domestically and internationally, Taipower continues to promote a culture of corporate sports. Over the past 3 years, nearly 60,000 participants have engaged in sports through over 300 employee-initiated clubs and program activities. This energetic commitment from Taipower employees benefits the entire nation. Today, Taipower was honored by the Ministry of Education's Sports Administration with its fourth consecutive "Taiwan iSports Certification". Taipower emphasized that sports have become an integral part of its DNA and it will continue to invest in promoting sports activities.
The Ministry of Education's Sports Administration initiated the "Taiwan iSports Certification" system in 2016 to encourage companies to cultivate good exercise habits among their employees. This afternoon, the 2023 Taiwan iSports Certification Award Ceremony was held, with a total of 154 companies receiving recognition. At the event, Taipower was represented by Vice President Tsao-Hua Hsu and received the award from Minister of Education Wen-Chung Pan; it shared the honor with other well-known companies such as Delta Electronics, Taiwan High Speed Rail, and Bank Sinopac. This marked the fourth time Taipower received this honor since the program's inception. Each certification is valid for a period of 2-3 years, and Taipower's cumulative certification period will reach 10 consecutive years in 2026. At that time, the Company will receive the highest recognition on the "Golden Honor Roll", alongside other top companies such as Acer, Cathay Life Insurance, and Taiwan Mobile.
Taipower has been nurturing a culture of corporate sports and encouraging its employees to engage in sports activities for many years. The Taipower baseball team was established in 1946, the same year that the Company was founded. Over the years, the Company has also established five other teams in men's volleyball, women's badminton, women's volleyball, men's soccer, and women's basketball. The Company has over 500 national team athletes, including notable individuals like Shuo-Yun Sung, Yi-Hui Lin, Tzu-Ya Chen, and Chun-Kai Liao, with 15 athletes representing Taiwan in the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou.
In addition to nurturing sports teams, Taipower continues to promote a culture of physical activity among its employees. This includes providing fitness equipment and spaces, organizing running and cycling events, and supporting over 300 voluntary clubs and activities initiated by the employees themselves. Over the past 3 years, nearly 60,000 employees have participated in sports activities. The Company also regularly hosts large-scale sporting events, such as eco-friendly running events to promote green energy in collaboration with wind power generation sites and cycling activities held by the Tashan Power Plant in response to the goal of making Kinmen a low-carbon island.
Taipower also collaborates with its own pool of athletes to organize the "Taipower Fun Ball Camp", benefiting over 12,000 students to date. Additionally, every year, the Company conducts a "Caring Train" initiative, fulfilling its corporate social responsibility by bringing sports education to children in rural schools.
