Government Support
● According to the 2024 IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook, Taiwan ranks 8th in the "Government Efficiency" indicator.
● Based on OECD statistics, Taiwan ranks 3rd among countries with consistently high R&D expenditure as a percentage of GDP in recent years. Not only has the scale of investment increased, but the proportion of expenditure has also shown positive growth, demonstrating a strong commitment to investing in technology research and development.
● Promoting bilateral and multilateral reciprocal agreements and actively participating in international organizations to enhance Taiwan's impact in scientific research.
Innovative Business Environment
● According to the 2024 IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook, Taiwan ranks 8th among 67 evaluated countries and 3rd in the Asia-Pacific region, following Singapore and Hong Kong. Taiwan notably ranks 1st in the "Innovation and Entrepreneurship" indicator.
● In the National Entrepreneurship Context Index (NECI) published in 2023 by the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM), Taiwan ranks 3rd among 51 countries.
● The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) ranks Taiwan 17th globally in its 2023-2027 Business Environment Rankings.
Well-Developed Industry Clusters
● Taiwan's Hsinchu Science Park, Central Taiwan Science Park, and Southern Taiwan Science Park are supported by a comprehensive high-tech industry-academia network, which significantly enhances the clustering effects in industries such as semiconductors, information hardware manufacturing, software development, and emerging biotechnology.
● ASML has established its presence in the New Taipei International AI Plus Intelligent Park, while AMD and NVIDIA have both set up research and development centers in Taiwan, deepening their R&D and industry collaboration in the region.
Outstanding Industrial Strength
● Taiwan ranks 2nd globally in flat panel display output value, trailing only China.
● Taiwan's semiconductor industry ranks 2nd worldwide in production value, second only to the United States.
● Taiwan ranks 3rd globally in synthetic fiber production by volume, following China and India.
Exceptional R&D Talent
● According to the 2024 IMD World Talent Ranking (WTR), Taiwan ranks 18th globally among 67 evaluated economies and 3rd in the Asia-Pacific region, following Singapore and Hong Kong.
● In the 2023 IMD World Digital Competitiveness Ranking (WDCR), Taiwan ranks 1st globally in total R&D personnel per capita, highlighting Taiwan's continuous commitment to cultivating research and development talent.
Comprehensive Infrastructure
● According to the 2024 IMD World Competitiveness Ranking, Taiwan ranks among the global top 10 in both "Technological Infrastructure" and "Scientific Infrastructure" indicators.
● According to the 2023 IMD World Digital Competitiveness Ranking, Taiwan has the highest market share of mobile broadband users globally, reflecting the widespread use of internet applications.

DoIT has reached out to various global companies and research organizations with the proposition of partnering with Taiwan for joint R&D efforts on innovative technologies and business opportunities.
Over the years we have successfully built up a solid collaborative network with partners from the USA, Japan, and Europe, covering a wide range of technologies; such as information and communications technologies (ICT), smart machinery, materials and chemicals, biomedical, and emerging technologies.
We have also been actively promoting collaborative ties with governments, national institutions, and private industries in other Southeast Asian countries, diligently supporting various projects to ensure success.
