According to the statistics, 1,666 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects with a total amount of US$10,384,974,000 were approved from January to August 2022. This indicates a decrease of 5.18% in the number of cases, but a increase of 178.55% in FDI amount compared to the same period of 2021.
   With regard to inward investment from Mainland China, 35 cases were approved with an amount of US$18,854,000 from January to August 2022. This indicates a increase of 34.62% in the number of cases, and a decrease of 36.02% in the FDI amount compared to the same period of 2021. From July 2009 to August 2022, 1,545 cases were approved with a total investment amount added up to US$2,546,380,000.
   In terms of Taiwan’s outbound investment (excluding Mainland China), 365 projects were registered from January to August 2022 with a total amount of US$5,430,406,000, indicating an increase of 37.74% in the number of cases, and a decrease of 37.06% in the amount, as compared to the same period of 2021.

   As for Taiwan’s outward investment to Mainland China, 238 applications have been approved from January to August 2022, indicating a decrease of 14.08% compared to the same period of 2021. The approved investment amount is US$2,598,390,000, 0.01% more than the same period in 2021.
