Nigeria is the biggest economy in Africa and Taiwan’s fifth largest trading partner in Africa. To create opportunities for business cooperation between Taiwan and Nigeria, the Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT), the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), and the Nigeria Trade Office in Taiwan jointly organized a series of events for the 2021 Nigeria Taiwan Week.

The Nigeria Taiwan Week consisted of a business forum, online exhibitions, and procurement meetings. More than 200 products are being exhibited, including auto parts, machinery, halal products and medical equipment. Important buyers from Northwest Africa have been invited to the online matchmaking meeting. The BOFT anticipates that the series of events will build lasting bridges for industrial, technological, and cultural exchanges, while providing a good platform for companies from both sides to discuss opportunities for greater cooperation.
Meanwhile, with the goal of establishing Nigeria as the halal hub for Africa, the first international Halal Expo was held in the Nigerian capital Abuja. A Taiwan Pavilion was set up to display Taiwanese halal products, such as food, cosmetics, and healthcare. Dedicated personnel were designated to assist with product promotion and exposure and invite buyers to meet virtually with Taiwanese enterprises. In addition, TAITRA signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Abuja Chamber Of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) during the opening of the Taiwan Pavilion. This will strengthen future business and trade interaction between both countries.
