According to the statistics, 908 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects with a total amount of US$3,103,844,000 were approved from January to May 2024. This indicates a decrease of 3.20% in the number of cases, and a decrease of 27.37% in FDI amount compared to the same period of 2023.

With regard to inward investment from Mainland China, 16 cases were approved with an amount of US$15,687,000 from January to May 2024. This indicates an increase of 33.33% in the number of cases, and an increase of 23.01% in the FDI amount compared to the same period of 2023. From July 2009 to May 2024, 1,602 cases were approved with a total investment amount added up to US$2,611,633,000.

In terms of Taiwan's outbound investment (excluding Mainland China), 302 projects were registered from January to May 2024 with a total amount of US$13,373,582,000, indicating an increase of 46.60% in the number of cases, and an increase of 60.80% in the amount, as compared to the same period of 2023.
 
As for Taiwan's outward investment to Mainland China, 125 applications have been approved from January to May 2024, indicating a decrease of 19.35% compared to the same period of 2023. The approved investment amount is US$1,270,789,000, 15.69% less than the same period in 2023.
