This project selected polyvinyl acetate (PVA) with good bioaffinity as a new type of biocarrier to develop, and adjusted the surface energy of PVA material by grafting the hydrophilic/hydrophobic functional group and Ca2+ ion, which effectively reduced the surface energy difference between PVA material and anaerobic bacteria. This will increase the adhesion force and amount of microorganisms on the biocarriers and improve the efficiency of the anaerobic treatment process.
