TDP for Industry
Subsidize enterprises to conduct R&D into innovative and advanced technologies; engage in activities from innovation to value creation; connect with R&D systems in multinational corporations; optimize Taiwan’s industrial ecology and boost global competitiveness.
A+ Industrial Innovative R&D Program
In 2014, DoIT kick-started the A+ Industrial Innovative R&D Program (the A+ Program) as a continuation of the Industrial Technology Development Program (ITDP). The aim of the A+ Program is to encourage and guide businesses to invest in high value-adding cutting-edge industrial technologies and to facilitate the multidisciplinary integration, thus perfecting Taiwan’s industrial development. As a continuation of the ITDP, we continue to provide subsidies to businesses to help them get involved in innovation, development, and research programs; and to encourage them to establish onshore R&D centers, develop global R&D partnerships, and initiate similar programs, hoping that our industries will have a greater impact on the world.

IC Design Summit Subsidy Program
To reduce the risk of Taiwan’s IC design companies investing in cutting-edge technologies and to encourage them to develop advanced technology chips, the Ministry of Economic Affairs has launched the “IC Design Summit Subsidy Program”. The program requires that the submitted applications must have a chip whose specification is equivalent to or surpasses the international leading products by 2026. The applications must include the chip design, trial production, and customers’ early verification.
This program encourages Taiwan’s IC design companies to develop their products using innovative technologies such as 7nm (and below) process, advanced heterogeneous integration packaging technology, and heterogeneous integration MEMS sensing technology. The program prioritizes four application fields, including AI, high-performance computing, automotive electronics and next-generation communication.
Pioneers for Innovation Leadership on Technology Program
To strengthen Taiwan industry's ability to research and develop leading technologies, and enable Taiwan to become a global high-tech research and development (R&D) center, by galvanizing foreign and domestic international leading enterprises to develop advanced technologies in Taiwan, collaborate with local industrial ecosystem on R&D, and accelerate the deployment of blue ocean strategies.
Unmanned Vehicles Technology Innovative Experimentation Program
In order to promote and encourage the development of unmanned vehicle technology, the Department of Industrial Technology (DoIT) formulated the "Unmanned Vehicle Technology Innovation Experimental Regulations" by introducing the supervisory sandbox to build a safe experimental environment. This regulation could encourage all the innovators from industry, academe and research to devote themselves to the POC, POS and POB of unmanned vehicle, which could temporarily exclude the application of relevant supervision regulations within a specific scope.
Autonomous Vehicle Technology in Empirical Operation Subsidy Program
In order to promote the diversified applications and service development of the autonomous vehicle, facilitate the process of innovative technology commercialization, encourage practitioners to develop and implement the innovative application and operation verification of autonomous vehicle technology, the government propose the program to implement the development of autonomous vehicle technology Industrialization.
Results
The A+ Industrial Innovative R&D Program
The A+ Industrial Innovative R&D Program provides incentives for enterprises to make investments in developing advanced and risky technologies and making long term R&D plans at an early stage while its predecessor, the original "Industrial TDP" succeeded in encouraging enterprises to accumulate and add value to their intellectual property as well as to cultivate R&D human capital, form spin-off companies or spin-in business units, create innovative products and services while enhancing the enterprises' competitiveness.
